Portable Appliance Testing
Portable appliance testing is the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment, usually referred to as P.A.T testing.
Electricity can kill! Each year about a 1000 accidents at work involving electric shock or burns are reported to the health and safety executive. About fifteen of these are fatal.
The health and safety at work etc. act 1974, puts a duty of care upon both employer and employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises. This includes self-employed. Failure to comply with the electricity at work regulations can result in unlimited fines over £20,000, and prison sentences.
At Kaybec, PAT testing is carried out by fully qualified engineers, using the latest computerised equipment. Results are available on cd rom, for storage solutions or on printed certificates. Items will also be given a pass or fail sticker, dependent on test results. The results will also include details of next recommended test dates.
